W. L. Gore & Associates has a long history of creating scientifically sound innovations that give our customers the edge. To develop GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Concealment based on advanced scientific principles and offer hunters the best advantage over their prey to date, the team at W. L. Gore & Associates worked with a panel of experts, including:
Dr. Jay Neitz earned a Ph.D. in Biopsychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He has worked as a Vision Scientist at the Medical College of Wisconsin and the University of Washington Medical School in Seattle. During his time at GORE™ he ensured that GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Concealment patterns were scientifically accurate and, utilizing his research on animal vision including color perception, field of vision, and acuity, he judged how effective GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Concealment patterns would be in the field.
Named the Father of Digital Camouflage after using pixilation to create macro and micro patterns (the first “digital” camo), Tim O'Neill earned a Ph.D. from the University of Virginia and is a leading camouflage expert due to his understanding of visual biophysics and human visual performance. He was instrumental in the design of camo for the Canadian Department of Defense, U.S. Marines, and U.S. Army. At GORE™ he combined a macro and micro pattern, forming the basis of GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Concealment.
Guy Cramer is the president & CEO of Hyperstealth Biotechnology Corporation. He is also the developer of a new military camouflage based on mathematical fractals (feedback loops). He was commissioned by King Abdullah II of Jordan to develop a digital camouflage pattern that surpassed current U.S.-issued uniforms. To date, he is the developer of over 1,000 proprietary digital camouflage patterns. At GORE™ he worked with Dr. Tim O'Neill and Dr. Jay Neitz to digitally produce the GORE™ OPTIFADE™ Concealment patterns.
